Guess who came to stay

I had a lovely visit last week from an artist I've admired for a long time Lucie of She and her husband Loic came over to stay at a campsite just up the road from me! So we exchanged a flurry of convos and sorted out cool places to see and here's the first stop
Hillers Farm and Garden Shop
It's got gardens filled with roses and a great cafe, so we had a lovely time strolling around and chatting about their holiday plans. Boy had they chosen the right week to arrive, in the middle of a very rare heat wave.
It's great to finally meet in person, we've chatted on line  for ages and it's amazing to meet the artist behind the shop and Lucie was wearing one of her hairpins

Leaf Hair Fork hand formed brass hair stick metal hair fork organic golden large hair pin
and it looked gorgeous!

More from Hillers
We met up again for dinner and Lucie was very polite about the bombsite that passes as my studio. It was fantastic to talk shop and also a confidence boost for me. Some of my work I'm just not that confident about and it was lovely to know that Lucie liked my creations.
It was also lucky for Loic that my eldest daughter's boyfriend and my younger brother came over and it turns out they're all Warhammer nuts! I should point out they speak immaculate English too.
I'm sure Lucie will tell you more about her visits to Hidecote and Snowshill and she also bought some great new tools from the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, so I can't wait to see what she creates with those.
We met up for the last time on Sunday for a very big car boot and Lucie bought a gorgeous tea set and very generously shared her booty of ceramic beads with me.
Here's my haul

Indian jewellery, tiny brasses, rose quartz and some strange brass pins!

A medal, metal belt and amethyst

Wooden leaf bowl and more necklaces for re-purposing.

Lucie also brought me some gorgeous chunky bamboo beads, French jet and vintage hand blown beads.
Plus some of her beautiful tiny keys.
And some salted caramel for Fern, who scoffed those down. She was thrilled to meet them both!
And Heather sends her love too xx

All to quickly they had to sped off  to Wales and I hope they're enjoying themselves in the valleys.
Next year France!

Bead Hoarders Blog Hop

We've all done it; spent out on some gorgeous artisan lovelies and for some inexplicable reason we have stashed these lovelies away and cruelly neglect to show them off in a new creation. But now is the time for them to shine and with thanks to Lori Anderson they will at last be proudly displayed.

So here are my 2 hoarded lovelies

A stunning pendant from Staci Lewis which I can't believe I've had for nearly 2 years! A ceramic disc and wool from raggedrobyn and a selection of scorchedearthonetsy lovelies that I can't believe I've not used.

The second hoard

A beautiful ceramic pendant from Brigitta of
vintage beads, matt etched glass and buttons and lace. What on earth was up with me not using these gorgeous pendants.
So here's the reveal

I made chunky hammered hoops of different sizes and used this strong but so soft wool and a key to form the clasp.

I've twisted the lace with silk and wrapped with white wire. A czech glass button is the clasp and I used a rhinestone rondell and beads to form a bale.

Lastly are these earring using scorchedearthonetsy lillies

I hope you'll all forgive me for neglecting these lovelies and please have a look at these other naughty ladies who have been hoarding too!

Wedding Blitz and new bangle designs

I'm burning the midnight oil at the moment desperately trying to keep up with blogging, promoting, making new stuff and my daughter's wedding. It may not be until next year but I'm making all the bouquets with fabric flowers, buttons and brooches. Plus the bridemaids's jewellery and all manner of favour treats and boxes and THE CAKE!!!!!
Shelley says I'm turning into Martha Stewart...which I'd love, being paid lots of money for crafting, just could do without the criminal record.
My daughter has now started a blog plotting our progress and also providing lots of ideas for the bride who wants to be a bit different and also tutorials.
Want to know how to make these cuties
check here
We'd be thrilled if you would join us and follow our progress.
Also I've added an Alternative Bride section in my shop
It features these new goodies

And my very first Tiara

I've also got a last chance sale section with big reductions, an opportunity to grab a bargain before it disappears into the recycle box...Every little helps!

I've been having a go at a variation on the bangle stacks using big holed beads, 16 gauge copper and a integral clasp. Here's what I came up with

Love how the joy bead and Petra's dangle look together.

Guilder's paste has been applied to this one.
I will make more of these and I may well experiment with chokers too.
These little cuties will be up soon as well as these pod earrings
So it's back to the graft for me and look out for a the Bead Hoarder's blog on the 20th July!
